Visa Application

Visa regulations are determined by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and are subject to change. The following is general information. Please verify Visa information with the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate.

Study and Work Permits

Study Permits:

Persons who are not Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents require a Study Permit (Student Authorization, Visa) in order to enter Canada to study. As an international student, you must obtain a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in order to live and study in Canada for more than six months.

Please review the website of the Canadian Embassy in your home country for more information on study permit applications.

US citizens:

If you are a US citizen (or US permanent resident) currently living in the United States, you can choose to apply for a Study Permit on arrival in Canada, provided you enter at a major US/Canada border crossing or airport.

Work Permit:

This program has co-op as an integral component of the curriculum. As such, students will need a Work Permit (C-30 exemption) in order to participate. Special Note: There are NO extra fees for the Work Permit. The educational institution (SELC Career College) is considered the employer for this work permit. Students are then legally entitled to undertake a paid co-op as part of the educational program (50/50 rule applies)
